This type of birth was a new experience for me and actually turned out to be interesting and bonding for my new family.  Ashley is very tough and I am proud of her for her interest and thoughtfulness in trying to create a healthy environment (emotionally and physically) for herself and our baby.  I am constantly concerned for my wife’s comfort and I expected this situation to be extremely hard for me to deal with.  I do not like to see my wife in pain or discomfort!!  However, I felt as though the provisions provided:  birthing pool, ability to change positions or eat, home environment, caring health providers, etc. made Ashley as comfortable as possible.  I learned to respect a woman’s God-given ability to create life on her own and the spiritual power that is present when she chooses to rely on faith.  I love my wife and baby Colton so much and I am glad I could be there (up close and personal), to welcome my son into the world.  Thank you Heather for helping to create such a wonderful birth experience for us, and than you Ashley for being so strong.
